Join Us

We’re growing a network to foster collaboration, share information, and build our anti-authoritarian resistance movement.

We are stronger together.

Members have the opportunity to:

  • Connect with other groups and individuals across Washington working to resist authoritarianism

  • Be included in our directory to help individuals find you and support your efforts

  • Share trainings, actions, and other events in our future events calendar

All of these opportunities are entirely optional. Participation is not required to join the Network.

Complete this short form to join Free Washington Project. By submitting this form, you affirm that you have read and agree to FreeWA’s Points of Agreement. See our FAQs or contact us if you have any questions.

  • Members must commit to the following points that guide the formation of the Network.

    RESIST AUTHORITARIANISM

    The Free Washington Project website is a resource provided to members to announce actions and events that are intended to build resistance to the authoritarian actions of the federal regime, as exemplified in the Project 2025 documents.

    NO MILITARIZED FEDERAL ENFORCEMENT

    The Network is organized to coordinate response to the use of military or militarized units of federal or federalized forces in Washington State. Enforcement officers that hide their identities with masks or operate vehicles without license plates are not to be considered legitimate authorities.

    PROMOTE COMMUNITY

    A key part of effective resistance is strong bonds within and across communities. To do this we must break out of our silos to join forces with other community organizations and leaders that oppose authoritarianism. Our community and Network must strive to be anti-racist, multi-sectoral, and internationalist in composition and viewpoint.

    All who oppose authoritarianism are welcome. We will constantly work to expand and encompass additional communities not presently represented. In addition to actions intended to directly resist authoritarianism, announcements of free events that are open to the public are welcome when they include themes of resistance and/or solidarity.

    NONVIOLENCE

    The Free Washington Project’s purpose of responding to the needs of the most affected communities necessitates that actions brought to the Network or promoted on the website are nonviolent. Members agree to help protect those who may be more vulnerable by bringing only nonviolent actions to this network, and when bringing actions that may result in confrontation, to encourage participants to attend nonviolent direct action training.

    SOLIDARITY

    The organizations joining the Network agree to guide their members to adhere to the Saint Paul Principles at least with respect to other organizations participating in the Network:

    • Our solidarity will be based on respect for diversity of tactics and plans of other groups;

    • The actions and tactics will be organized to maintain a separation of time and space;

    • Any debates or criticisms will stay internal to the Network, avoiding any public or media denunciations of fellow activists and events;

    • We oppose any state repression of dissent, including surveillance, infiltration, disruption and violence, and we agree not to assist law enforcement actions against activists and others.

    STAY ON TOPIC

    Members agree that actions and events submitted to the website will conform to these agreements.
